On April 3rd, John Smith received the Student of the Month reward because of his impressive work ethic and outstanding performance.

He got the award at a ceremony held for top students like himself at Bowie High School. "I studied very hard everyday until I got the award. I didn't let myself have fun a single time," John Smith said. At Bowie, there are a lot of very talented students, so it can be hard to single down to one person. However in this case, the winner seemed obvious. Smith has an unbelievable work ethic and is very motivated. "I make sure to not to expose myself to any form of enjoyment because that will distract me," Smith said.

Winning the award is no easy task. Students have to be very dedicated to studies. "My school and personal life have merged to become one. My entire life is my academics," Smith said. There are many top tier students at Bowie. Students of the Month have the best grades in their class and just perform at a phenomenal level. "I received the student of the month tittle because I am completely dedicated to my studies and have the top grades in my class," Smith said.

Students who try to get this award often have to make new habits to be successful. "As much as I try not to, I sometimes enjoy myself. To be the most efficient worker, I have to eliminate this," Smith said. Many students strive to get this award. However, no students have gone to extremes Smith has. "I spend around 18 hours a day on school related activities. The rest is spent sleeping," Smith said.

The Student of the Month is chosen at the end of every month of the school year. Students can maintain their tittle and lots of winners try to. "I am going to continue to be a student with no distractions and win again," Smith said. Students that win this award often go to exceptional schools after Bowie. Smith has been accepted into Harvard, just a few weeks after winning the award. "Winning this award has not only been my greatest academic achievement, but also the greatest honor I have ever received," Smith said.
